I have heard of an instance of package theft in the Takoma area. While this affects all neighbors in 4B07, the incident is in close proximity to neighbors who live on the 6600 blocks of 2nd St., NW; 100/200 blocks of Whittier St., NW; and the 100/200 blocks of Van Buren St., NW.
I have written a letter (below) with some tips on what you can do to reduce the risk of package theft.

On May 25, 2023 I wrote a letter to DC Water communicating some of the concerns and frustrations that constituents in 4B07 have brought to my attention as part of the Lead Service Line (LSL) replacment process that has taken place in our area over the past several months.

Rodent Abatement Walk in Lamond
We will be holding a Rodent Abatement Walk in the Lamond Neighborhood on May 6th from Noon Until 1:30pm. The walk will begin at the intersection of Underwood Place NW and North Capitol Street, NW. DC Department of Health - Rodent and Vector Control Division will be there, and I have also invited DC Department of Buildings as well as DC Department of Public Works. A Notice of Intent from DDOT regarding Removal of RPP Parking on 6200 Blair Road (03/10/2023)
DDOT has informed us that they are removing the RPP (Residential Parking Permitting) at the 6200 block of Blair Road. The Notice of Intent (NOI) is attached, and the link below provides information on how you can respond to DDOT's NOI.
A Notice from DPW regarding street sweeping (03/03/2023)
Posted Street Sweeping began Wednesday, March 1. DPW is issuing warnings to vehicles parked during the posted street sweeping periods. After March 10, 2023, vehicles in violation of posted parking restrictions will be subject to $45 fines and a $100 relocation fee. Vehicles that are parked during prohibited street sweeping hours can be relocated so that sweepers can access the curbside. Parking is generally prohibited for two hours (9:30 am to 11:30 am or 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm) while street sweeping is underway. Alternate side parking is required to facilitate street sweeping.
The following notice has been issued by DDOT and will affect neighbors on the 6600 Block of 2nd St., NW. If you'd like to provide feedback please contact: Kornelius Anderson at DDOT and you are welcome to include Michael.
DDOT has completed a Traffic Safety Investigation (TSI) involving speed and traffic calming concerns along the 6600 BLOCK OF 2ND STREET NW. Based on our engineering evaluation, DDOT intends to install one (1) speed hump and associated signs in the 6600 BLOCK OF 2ND STREET NW. The proposed location falls within ANC 4B.
We are reaching out to you for the purpose of notification and solicitation of comments on our decision to implement the above countermeasures in your jurisdiction. All comments on this matter must be provided to me in writing, no later than ten (10) business days after the date of this notice, so that we are able to review and consider your feedback. If no comments are received within this timeframe, DDOT will proceed with the design and installation of the recommended countermeasures.
Please note that DDOT has performed a complete engineering evaluation for this location in accordance with the new Guidelines on Vertical Traffic Calming Implementation. As part of these guidelines, all proposed vertical traffic calming installations require ANC notification. The sole purpose of this notification is to provide the ANC Commissioner, as the locally elected representative, an opportunity to confer with the residents and relay the feedback to DDOT.
